A Tabriz rug/carpet is a type in the general category of Persian rugs from the city of Tabriz, the capital city of East Azarbaijan Province in the northwest of Iran. It is one of the oldest rug weaving centers and makes a huge diversity of types of carpets. The range starts at Bazaar quality of 24 raj (Number of knots per 7 cm of the widths of the rug) and on up to the incredibly fine 110 raj. Raj is the unit of knot density. It shows the rigidity of the rug based on the number of strings used for the foundation of the rug. Strings materials are usually made of cotton or silk which is used for very fine rugs.
Tabriz has one of the most diverse displays of designs from medallion, Herati/Mahi, to figural, pictorial, and even 3-d shaped rugs.
The major producers in Tabriz today include Alabaf of Tabriz, Galibafi Nassadji Tabriz, and Miri Brothers.
Tabriz has been a large and worldwide famous carpet-making center in Iran and the world. It played a significant role in the development of the rich traditions of the decorative and applied arts.
The art of Tabriz carpet was in its zenith in the 12th-16th centuries. About 200 Tabriz school masterpieces of the classical or "golden" period of the 14th century are characterized by a harmonic merge of the arts of miniature paintings and weaving, by a high level of craftsmanship demonstrated by artists and carpet weavers.
The Tabriz school can be divided into 2 subgroups: Tabriz and Ardabil.
9’ x 12’ or 2.74 cm x 3.66 cm area rugs by room dimension.
We highly recommend measuring your room first, then using masking tape marking the rug size that you are about to purchase! This will give you a clear idea of what shape rug and size you need for your defined space.
9’ x 12’ size rugs or room-size rugs are used for multiple purposes depending on the size of your room. Three ways to place your rug in a room, all the furniture on the rug, only the front legs of the furniture on the rug, and no furniture on the rug. This could be decided only by your or your trusted designer.
9’ x 12’ size rug for living room. This size rug would cover a large portion of a modern size apartment living room floor. Modern-day living room size can hold a 9’ x 12’ area rug with all the furniture legs on the rug field. A 9’ x 12’ area rug can hold larger furniture sizes in comparison to an 8’ x 10 rug size, it can accommodate multiple furniture sizes and a sectional couch placed on comfortably.
The larger size living room can hold a 9’ x 12’ area rug with anchoring the rug with only the front legs of the large furniture on the rug borders and the coffee table in the middle of the rug.
9’ x 12’ area rugs can be used for the kitchen or dining room with eight to ten chairs placed around the table in the middle of the rug with plenty of room. It would be essential and safer to have all the chairs' legs on the rug at the time of seating and possibly when the chairs are pulled out. This will increase the safety, and longevity of your rug and your room's mood and feel. The rug size and shape vary based on your dining area and the furniture selection.
9’ x 12’ rugs for a larger master bedroom would accommodate a queen-size bed, king-size beds, and a California king-size bed fully placed on top of the 9’x12’ area rug with the two nightstands.
The placement of the rugs depends on the overall size of the room. Depending on your room size and preference your rug does not have to be completely under the bed and the two nightstands. It could be placed half under bed. Your rug should be large enough (two to three feet larger than the bed) so your feet land on the rug in time of getting out of bed, so you feel the softness and comfort of the rug.
(Multiple bed size and dimensions)
